I know I probably have exactly one reader (my husband), and he's already well-acquainted with this issue, but on the off chance that someone else passes by this blog, I want to call attention to a terrible travesty of justice that is occurring. A friend of mine from high school, along with her husband, is trying to adopt a boy from Kazakhstan. After enduring years of applications, background checks, and planning scrupulously, they found a boy they knew immediately was their son-to-be, and began the bonding process. They followed procedures, treaded carefully, and did everything they were told in order to pass through the judicial system's approval process. They took an infant son who had medical issues and difficulty thriving, nurtured him, visited him daily (that's all that was permitted), and provided medical care. Now, he's a healthy, thriving youngster on track developmentally who loves his new mommy and daddy - and the Kazakh courts have decided that a boy in such good condition should have been shown to more Kazakh families rather than so "easily" being surrendered to an American couple.
So, after 7 months spent overseas, leaving their home, jobs, and lives behind, my friends find themselves in an epic battle with a dictatorial government to bring home their son, because make no mistake, after all this time and effort, that is what he is. He deserves to come home with them, rather than be relegated to an orphanage infinitely while politics play out. If you have a heart, read their story. If you have a Facebook account, join the cause "Save the Taraz Ten" (www.causes.com/causes/503597). If you know someone who might be able to help, let them know on their blog (www.bjadoption.wordpress.com). No one is asking for any money, and this is not a scam; I know these people personally, and they are both deserving and responsible people who should be able to bring home their son. Thanks for reading, and thank you in advance for your help!
